Q6: The electronic eyepiece works fine for a while and then vertical lines appear and then more and more lines appear. How do I stop this.
A: Hello, Karl:
Sorry you're having eyepiece trouble. We can come up with a couple of possible causes. First, the eyepiece itself could be defective. In that case, you'd want to contact Meade Customer Support at (800) 626-3233. Second, you may be trying to view over too long a distance. In that case, try using a shorter cable to eliminate interference.
Q7: Is a special kind of TV required for outdoors?
Can run extra cable if the TV must stay indoors?
A: The Electronic Eyepiece will work with any U.S. TV set. You can use a longer cable, but you should stay within 20-25 feet.
Q8: I am asking this question from Bangalore (India). I want to buy this product. But the shipping charges come more than the actual cost of the product. Can i know if there are any outlets in India so that i can buy it from there.?
A: Meade restricts us to selling its products only within the U.S. and Canada, so we would be unable to ship an Electronic Eyepiece to India in any case. The Meade dealer in Bangalore is Gulf Equipment Metrology Service. You might try them to see if they have one of the eyepieces in stock.
Q9: What is the magnification of the eyepiece?
A: The Meade Electronic Eyepiece magnifies as though it were a 9mm, conventional eyepiece. With a telescope of 1,000mm focal length, that would produce about 111X magnification.
Q10: Thank you for
A: answering the question on magnification equalling approx 9mm. My questions:
is it threaded to receive 1.25 inch filters, for moon and nebula filters?
Is the contrast manually adjustable or is it automatic?
Thank you.
Reg Coppic The barrel is threaded to take filters. Contrast is manually adjustable.
Q11: How do i connect a 6-foot cord to my tv or
pc monitor when my telescope is set up
outside my home? Does the eyepiece "store" live memory?
A: You will need a longer video cord, and one can be purchased at a local audio/video store. Be aware, though, that image quality will degrade with distance. The Electronic Eyepiece does not "store" images; it transmits them directly to your TV set.
Q12: Is this eyepiece compatable with the Zhumell Aurora 70 with Motor Drive?
A: Yes, the Meade Electronic Eyepiece will work just fine with the Zhumell Aurora 70.
Q13: Do i need to use a really long exposure?
I do NOT have a clock drive and want to use this for astrophotography. Will i b able to c Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, Venus, the Moon etc in real time??????????? or do i have to giveit a long exposure??????
A: The Meade Electronic Eyepiece is a device for capturing and transmitting live video to a TV set or computer with video-in capability. To capture still images, you'll probably be better off with either Meade's Lunar Planetary Imager (LPI) or Deep Space Imager (DSI). Either will capture still images with exposure times up to 30 seconds, and the images can be "stacked" to produce views of startling quality. With exposure times of 30 seconds or less, you'll not need a motor drive. Here's the URL for the LPI; just paste it into your browser's address window: http://telescopes.com/products/meade-lunar-planetary-imager-lpi-wautostar-suite-21600.html.
And here's the URL for the DSI: http://telescopes.com/products/meade-dsi-deep-sky-imager-color-wautostar-suite-31017.html.
Q14: Any eyepieces that produce a color image?
A: The Zhumell 1.25-inch Digital Eyepiece produces a color image when used with a PC or laptop. Here's the URL; just paste it into your browser's address window: http://telescopes.com/products/zhumell-1-25in-digital-eyepiece-super-sale-closeout-32584.html.
Q15: You claim the Zhumell 1.25-inch Digital Eyepiece is made to fit 0.965" or 1.25" focuser sleeves. How is that possible?
A: The Zhumell Digital Eyepiece has two barrels, one within the other. The smaller is .965 inch in diameter, and the larger is 1.25 inches.
Q16: Does the 902 use a standard battery for power that can be replaced if you accidently store it with the switch on?
A: Yes, Meade designed the #902 Electronic Eyepiece to be powered by a standard 9-volt battery. That means you can replace the battery at will. They're available just about anywhere.
Q17: Are there electronic eye pieces that will produce a color image?
A: The Zhumell Digital Eyepiece will image in color. Here's the URL; just paste it into your browser's address window: http://telescopes.com/products/zhumell-1-25in-digital-eyepiece-super-sale-closeout-32584.html.
Q18: There used to be a similiar electronic eyepiece but in colour made by Orion. I tried to order it locally but they say it is no longer made by Orion. Do you know of any other electronic eyepiece providing a color video image?
A: Yes. The Zhumell Digital Eyepiece renders images in real-time color. Here's the URL; just paste it into your browser's address window: http://www.binoculars.com/products/zhumell-1-25in-digital-eyepiece-super-sale-closeout-32584.html.
Q19: Can this electronic eyepiece work on any other telescope other than meade telescope?
A: Yes, the Meade #902 Electronic Eyepiece will work with any telescope having a 1.25-inch focuser.
Q20: I am loking for a similiar eyepiece for digital still Cameras.
A: Unfortunately, we're not aware of a device like the Meade #902 Electronic Eyepiece that would work with a digital still camera. You might like to contact a photo store.
Q21: I have the Electronic Eyepiece with ONE cable. The plug is to big to hook up to my laptop. Is there an adaptor available to allow me to do this type of hookup?
A: Unfortunately, the Meade #902 Electronic Eyepiece won't interface with a computer. It transmits what the telescope is "seeing" to a TV set.
If you want an eyepiece that will work with your laptop, you'll need the Zhumell Digital Eyepiece. Here's the URL; just paste it into your browser's address window: http://telescopes.com/products/zhumell-1-25in-digital-eyepiece-32584.html.
Q22: Unless I am reading incorrectly, previous
A: answers say this item is equivalent to a 9mm and 20mm eyepiece. Which is accurate? If I use this in my Meade ETX-80 with the internal 2X barlow and a stacked 2x barlow what magnification can I expect? Do I divi The Meade #902 Electronic Eyepiece is the equivalent of a 9mm eyepiece.
